Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutation, is a series of postures that warms, strengthens, and aligns the entire body. It serves as an all-purpose yoga tool, kind of like a hammer that’s also a saw and a screwdriver, if you can imagine such a thing.
This sequence is a fun warm up moved every joint and major muscle groups in the body and is a great approach for calming and refocusing your mind and body to be ready for learning. Teachers are even using this technique in classrooms.
For two weeks in the month of January, January 15th-29th, Along side Mrs. Taylor, Raji and her team will teach students the Sun Salutations sequence at the beginning of each P.E. class. Every child will get the chance to experience yoga and it’s benefits and might even come home wanting to teach you!
All through the month of December we will be collecting new and gently used books to donate to members of our own Endhaven community! Donation boxes will be located in the lobby of the school so your child can drop off books.
So while you’re organizing and cleaning out toy rooms and closets before the holiday,
get in the spirit and set a few books aside for your neighbor and give the gift of literacy!
